India vs New Zealand Test Series: Batting Struggles and Strong Message from Team Management
India is looking pretty tough in the Test series against New Zealand, especially after batting failures and stern messages from the team management. He assured the fans that each player is experienced and seasoned, and has the needed experience and expertise to make things right.
According to Morkel, the players have their own plan and process to be good in the game. The management still hopes from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as they are more experienced players. These players know the gravity of the situation because they have faced much worse situations in life earlier.
The team is also expecting its batsmen to get a better reply, much like what happened earlier, after this collapse in the second innings.
The most important statement after the match from Morkel was that he was very confident that his team would be able to turn the game around in the second innings. He believes that the players have enough knowledge, experience, and tactical insight that can correct their errors and make a strong comeback. He admitted that experience and adaptability play a critical role and said that “we just need to back our knowledge of the conditions”.
We must believe, Morkel said. This game is a weird game. Our guys are attacking players, there are guys that know these conditions pretty well. Obviously, the message was: India’s players are uniquely familiar with conditions at home, and they should cash in on it in formulating a comeback.
Morkel felt that the Indian batting line-up had some issues to address from the first innings. He was optimistic that they would come out and fight hard, wanting to prove themselves and show the world how good they are. It is not easy, but this gives them an excellent opportunity to lift the fans and remind the cricketing world of their Test status.
New Zealand Dominance and Strategic Approach
Morkel quickly attributed it to New Zealand for their brilliant performance so far in the series. The visitors have shown a remarkable ability to adapt to Indian conditions and apply very disciplined strategies that make them stay in command while building pressure on the Indian batsmen. Moreover, the New Zealand bowling unit has been immensely disciplined in such testing pitches where the ball keeps turning and bouncing unpredictably.
Morkel said it has been tough for the Indian batsmen to rotate the strike or build momentum while Mitchell Santner has been bowling with accuracy. Constant changes in pace and trying to attack the tough areas of the wicket have kept the Indians on the back foot, and they could not answer it at times. This proved to be too challenging for the Indians to understand variations in batting lineups as they were sometimes trapped through well-planned bowling attacks.

The conditions on the cricket pitch have been a problem for India to get through in both the games. The consistent turn and bounce did not let the Indian batsmen settle into any sort of comfort. They have kept the Indians on their toes with crisp execution, which proved to be the reason that they won this series till now.
